AwardsWelcare Hospital is the first private hospital in the U.A.E. to win the Dubai Quality Appreciation Program under the Professional Sector for the year 2000 - 2001. Since its inception in 1994, the Dubai Quality Award continues to be the driving force behind quality and continuous improvement movement in Dubai. The Dubai Quality Award Model is built upon the international framework of business excellence and is considered by many as the quality roadmap to help organizations in Dubai to position themselves on the quality map and most importantly the mechanism to measure their performance.

At Welcare Hospital, we foster the belief that excellence can only be achieved continuously over time and not in a short time frame. We encourage the thought that in order to get best results we have to question how our internal and external business processes are running. In this respect, the concept of continuous improvement becomes essential in achieving a business excellence award or recognition thereafter.

Our aim was to adopt the Dubai Quality Award Model as a tool for assessing our progress towards excellence and for highlighting the areas where improvement is needed. The process of applying in its own right improves the organization because of the depth of scrutiny and preparation involved against the established model of quality practice.

In the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister and Vice-President, and Ruler of Dubai: "The competitiveness of local companies, against world class standards and business, is one of the critical components in the accomplishment of our strategic development plan. The Dubai Quality Award remains the single most important tool that a company can use to develop this type of business performance and thereby, contributes to its own growth as well as to the growth of the local economy".

Our application, and subsequent winning of the Dubai Quality Appreciation Program, arose from such commitment to continuous quality improvement and was aimed to provide an objective yardstick to self-assessment of our progress even though the organization was merely 2 years old, at the time of application, and was entering into its third year of operation.

Our aim is to continue this journey towards world class excellence and to strive to meet the needs and expectations of our customers by meeting our challenges while continuously improving our services and comparing our standards to the best in the class.
